Having seen the family-oriented movie “Cheaper by the Dozen” a couple of years ago I could not forget this one funny scene. In the movie the family with 12 children had to move to a new home because of the father’s new job opportunity as a college football coach. As the film goes to a short part where the kids take in their new surroundings, a shot cuts across the street where an executive-looking woman talking on her cellphone is straining to keep hold on a leash that was apparently tied to a running kid.
It was just a very short scene yet it was very hilarious. I could only imagine the reaction of a human and children’s rights activist who had seen the film. Thankfully, in reality, a sane and well-meaning parent will definitely not use a leash on her child and will instead use a stroller when going out.
Because of that clip I was even more thankful to whoever invented baby strollers. With this simple and often taken for granted device, taking care of children becomes a bit easier. Human rights activists and children’s welfare advocates now have less to worry about because of baby strollers.
In this modern time baby strollers have become even more indispensable for parents, especially those who have very demanding schedules yet would still like to have time for personal leisure time. It is important for them to be able to balance their time between work, personal and bonding time with their young kids.
For example, everybody needs exercise and parents can now do that while watching over toddlers through jog-along baby strollers. Both parent and child will surely enjoy the exhilaration of running together. But if a dog is a jogger’s companion, either he will keep pulling at the leash to run the dog, or the dog will do the walking-slash-running. Both possibilities depend on the strength of the dog of course.
Baby strollers are now usually made to be convertible to car seats. A convenient and useful feature, it allows parents to keep their kids more secure while in a running car. It is also more ideal for kids rather than using seat belts. They are very helpful especially if the driving guardian is also the one minding the child. Now when dogs are riding in a car, unless if they get car sick and be immobile, it might be quite a job to ensure that they stay in place because you can’t really strap them with seat belts, can you?
